EPHRATA HIGH SCHOOL NAMES NEW MASCOT ARCHER IN HONOR OF GARY ARCHER

Ephrata High School revealed its official new Tiger mascot, "Archer," during the 2026 Homecoming celebration. The mascot is directly modeled after the district’s copyrighted Tiger logo and is named in honor of its original artist and 2026 EHS Honored Guest, Mr. Gary Archer.
The surprise debut took place during the Homecoming procession Friday at the football game halftime show, led by the new mascot in the school's Tiger Truck, followed by Mr. Archer. Mr. Archer is a 1965 Ephrata High School graduate who earned his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon University in 1970. He spent 32 years teaching and coaching in the Ephrata School District and is an inductee into four Athletic Halls of Fame: Community Colleges of Spokane, Eastern Oregon University, Washington State Basketball Coaches, and Ephrata High School. He was also recognized three times in Who’s Who Among America's Teachers.
Mr. Archer designed the iconic Ephrata Tiger artwork that serves as the visual identity for the district and inspired the facial design of the new mascot suit. In recognition of his lasting impact on the district and community, the Associated Student Body (ASB) officially named the new mascot "Archer."
The launch of the mascot celebrates both Ephrata School District’s official brand and the legacy of one of its most distinguished alumni. Before the reveal, the dance team performed, and the band played for the crowd. Following the unveiling, the homecoming court was announced, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show. It was an extraordinary homecoming week filled with immense community pride and support. Go Tigers!
