June 22 School Board Highlights

Following are some of the highlights from the June 22, Ephrata School Board meeting. Members of the public are always welcome to attend board meetings. Meeting dates and times, board agendas and other information.
Recognition of Spring State Achievements
The Board recognized spring student achievements at the state level in athletics, clubs and activities including Golf, Track & Field, Dance, Speech & Debate, National FFA Organization (FFA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and E-Sports. Students from these sports and activities represented Ephrata at the state level, with some continuing to the National level.
Transportation/Maintenance Building Upgrades Approved
The Board approved upgrades to the transportation and maintenance building, which include new windows and paint. These improvements are funded by remaining money from the community-approved 2022 Capital Levy. The approved costs are:
- Painting: $49,395 to Heavenly Painting
- Windows: $52,801 to K&W Glass & Auto Company
New Cafeteria Tables for Parkway Intermediate
The Board approved new tables for the Parkway Intermediate cafeteria/multipurpose gym. School Specialty was the vendor of choice for their lifetime limited warranty.
Career and Technical Education Planning and Grant Expenditures Approved
The school board approved the 2026-30 CTE 4-Year Plan, which guides facilities, instruction, and long-range planning. CTE will shift its annual focus from Agriculture to Skilled and Technical Sciences in the 2026-27 school year. The CTE Director shared the 2026 Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) that was presented to local Grant County stakeholders in May. The CLNA ensures district programs directly align with Grant County's workforce demands and student equity goals and informs grant expenditures. The School Board approved the 2026-27 Carl Perkins Grant, which will fund curriculum updates, equipment purchases, and professional development in the upcoming school year.
School Board Resignation
The Board accepted the resignation of School Board Director James Adams, effective June 30th. Application details for the vacancy will be shared soon, with the goal of appointing a replacement at the August Regular School Board Meeting.
