Planning strategy for the Fall of 2020

Ephrata School District's planning strategy for the Fall of 2020
Ephrata School District's planning strategy for the Fall of 2020

Currently, what are we being told to consider for this fall?
  • 4 scenarios:
    1. Back to school like a "normal" fall opening (not likely).
    2. Back to school with health guidance/rules/ restrictions (likely)
    3. Back to school using a distance learning approach (depends on how the virus progresses).
    4. A bricks & mortar/distance learning blended approach (potential).
Ephrata's Plan:
  • Monitor, plan, and adjust to state guidance/rules: OSPI AND Department of Health
  • The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has commissioned a state-wide planning committee to work on this topic.
  • Work with surrounding districts.
  • The district has developed an Advisory Team to the superintendent to:
    • Study the State guidance/rules when they come out.
    • Seek to understand and review this past spring's successes and challenges.
    • To offer ideas and solutions for this coming fall.
  • Utilizing the guidance/rules from the state, coupled with information gathered from the Advisory Team, the District will develop its plan over the summer.
  • Expected timeline:
    • June - Gather data and input from state, community, and Advisory Team
    • July - District to develop and share fall plan
    • August - Adjust, tune, and begin implementation of the plan
