A Message From Superintendent Tim Payne - Un mensaje de Superintendente Tim Payne - Photo of Tim Payne against logo backdrop - Ephrata School District Logo

September 17, 2021 Greetings and good afternoon.

The Ephrata School District is experiencing an increase in the number of students testing positive for COVID-19, which is increasing the number of students exposed through close contact.
As a school district, our number one priority right now is to keep our students and staff safe and the doors to our schools open. We need your help to keep our numbers from growing. If your child is experiencing any ONE of the following symptoms, they should stay home:
  • Fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
If your child has been in close contact with someone that has COVID-19, we also ask that you keep your child home. Staying home from school sick, with symptoms or because you've been in close contact are all excused absences. Please call your child's school to report your child's absence if they need to stay home.
As a school district, we are offering free COVID testing for students and staff daily. Hours for testing do vary, so please check the COVID pages of EphrataSchools.org for the daily times and location. Our COVID web pages also carry important instructions for close contact students and our COVID dashboard tracks the number of cases in each building. We encourage you to check it often.
We're excited to have students back in our buildings, on the fields/courts of competition, and we want to keep it that way. Please help us slow the spread by keeping sick kids home, wearing masks and social distancing. You'll help us all stay Tiger Strong.

My final thought/ask:
Please...
  • ...be positive.
  • ...assume positive intent.
  • ...extend space and grace, for someday you may need it.
  • ...treat one another with dignity.
  • ...create space for belonging.
  • I believe if we do the above with love and intentionality, then we will increase our community's unity.
