2020 EHS GRADUATION PLAN

EHS GRADUATION PLAN

May 21, 2020

Seniors and Parents/Guardians,

Although we cannot replace a traditional graduation experience, we have developed a plan to ensure that the Senior Class of 2020 will NOT be forgotten!

On May 26-28, high school staff will be arriving at the home of each senior to personally deliver a graduation package.  We will call in advance to let you know the day and approximate time of our arrival.  The package will contain items necessary for our graduation ceremony and a couple other small tokens for our seniors from us.  There will also be further directions of the parade and Drive-In ceremony.

Below is our graduation plan that is within the guidance provided by the Governor’s office, OSPI, and the Department of Health.  Our graduation plan (Online Virtual Graduation only or Drive-In Graduation and Online Virtual Graduation) is dependent upon the COVID-19 Phase that our county is in on June 3, 2020.   Grant County is currently in Phase 1.

Ephrata High School Graduation Plan – June 5, 2020

Online Virtual Graduation Ceremony

If Grant County is in Phase 1 on June 3rd, we will provide an Online Virtual Graduation Ceremony that will include the key components of a traditional graduation.  Families will view this ceremony from their homes.  This ceremony will be made available on our school website at 7:00 pm on June 5th.

Drive-In Graduation Ceremony & Virtual Graduation Ceremony

If Grant County is in Phase 2 on June 3rd, we will be holding a Drive-In Graduation Ceremony.  This ceremony will begin with a Class of 2020 graduation parade on June 5th.  The staging area for the parade will be at the Grace Point Church and St. Rose Church parking lots.  The parade will start at 5:00pm so plan to be there by 4:30pm.  The parade will proceed down C Street toward the high school campus.  The parade will end at the high school soccer/softball complex where we will have our Drive-In Graduation Ceremony.  Our Drive-In ceremony will consist of personally recognizing each graduate on a provided stage.  Each graduate will have their picture taken and they will be available for purchase.  We will not have student or staff speakers at this event, they will be highlighted on the online virtual graduation.  Our Online Virtual Graduation Ceremony will be available immediately following the Drive-In ceremony.

The Grant County Sheriff’s department will be leading our parade.  As to not block the view of other vehicles at the Drive-In graduation ceremony, large vehicles will be at the back of the parade.

May 5, 2020

On May 4th we were informed that the official last day of school for all students has now been moved back to our original end date of June 10th.  By law, seniors are allowed to finish five days prior to the last day of school.

Seniors last official day of school will be June 3rd.  With this change, we have also moved our graduation date back to its original date of June 5th.

I apologize for the multiple changes throughout this process while we follow the guidance and direction of OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction).

We are planning for graduation and we are hoping to do a “traditional” or as close to traditional graduation as possible, but we realize that a virtual graduation and some non-traditional activities around graduation are more likely.  Our graduation format will depend upon the restrictions at or near the time of graduation.  We will inform you of the specific details and activities as we get closer to graduation.  Please stay connected through our high school website and Facebook page for the most current information.

Seniors, please stay engaged with your classes and teachers.  Your teachers are working hard to provide you relevant content as you complete the final requirements for graduation.  We miss you all!

Respectfully

Aaron Cummings
