2022 Levies

Thank you Ephrata, November 2022 Levies Pass

Two new school district levies were approved by voters in November 2022. These measures will purchase four new yellow school buses and provide capital needed to address facility and infrastructure improvements throughout the district.

In 2018, Ephrata Schools made a commitment to keep school bonds and levy taxes close to $4.70 per $1,000 of assessed value. Tax rates will remain at this threshold with the approval of these two measures. If approved, taxpayers will pay a total of $4.68 in 2023 and $4.65 in 2024.  Read the November 2022 Levy Press Release.

Two Ephrata School District levies are up for voter consideration on the November ballot. If approved, Proposition 2 - Levy to Purchase School Buses - will allow the district to acquire four new, yellow school buses for Ephrata Schools.

Ephrata currently maintains a fleet of 35 school buses, the oldest of which are more than 25 years old. Levy funds will freshen the fleet and retire Ephrata’s oldest two buses, commissioned in the late 1990s.

2022 Levy: Spotlight on Transportation & Maintenance Center Upgrades

Two Ephrata School District levies will be up for voter consideration on the November ballot. If approved, one of the projects funded will be the construction of a storage facility to support Ephrata Schools.

Built in 1953, Ephrata School District’s current Transportation and Maintenance Center originally served as the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and shop classrooms for Ephrata High School. Today, the building is home to two departments that work tirelessly to help make our schools run, Transportation and Maintenance. Some 62 employees work in this facility daily, maintaining district buildings and grounds and keeping bus routes running smoothly and safely.

All school districts have storage needs, but those undergoing extensive renovations, like Ephrata, have considerably more. Right now, the Ephrata School District has one on-site facility, rents two off-site buildings and leases 10 storage containers which are housed on district property.

Ephrata Schools discovered an issue with athletic field lighting during the summer of 2022 when the wooden poles and lights were replaced on Ephrata High School’s Kiwanis Football Field. The project began as a means of upgrading light fixtures that have been discontinued, are inefficient and are no longer supported when issues occur. When Grant PUD helped remove the old light poles, they found them to be rotten at their core, which also made the poles a significant safety hazard.
