Superintendent Community Message September 12

Last night Aaron Cummings, our assistant superintendent, and I had the opportunity to gather with our community to honor Patriot Day in Ephrata. We were reminded of the deep significance this day holds for all of us. On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. It was a day marked by immense loss and profound grief, but also a day that revealed the strength, unity and resilience of the American people.

Aaron and I were proud to participate in our local Patriot’s Day ceremony and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many. The first responders who rushed into danger, the service members who continue to protect our freedom, and the countless ordinary citizens who demonstrated acts of heroism, are all examples of what it means to show unwavering commitment to others.

Let us honor those we lost, and those who continue to serve, by committing ourselves to a life of service, responsibility, and excellence. In Ephrata Schools, we call this TIGER PRIDE and it exists throughout our community. It's more than a motto - it's a way of life, a testament to who we are and a promise of what we will continue to be. Together, as a school district and a community, we will remain steadfast in our pursuit of greatness for our students and for one another.

Patriot Day is not just about remembering the past. It’s about reaffirming our responsibility to building a better, stronger future. Our students, the future leaders of this nation, are learning these values every day through their experiences in Ephrata and in our schools. By embracing excellence, modeling reliability and living with pride in who we are and what we stand for, we can continue to uphold the legacy of those who sacrificed so much.

We are truly a part of something special in this community.Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our Ephrata family.
