New Assistant Superintendent for Ephrata Schools

The Ephrata School District is pleased to announce that Aaron Cummings has been named as the district’s assistant superintendent. He will replace Ken Murray, who assumes the role of interim superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Cummings has more than 33 years of service to the Ephrata School District, acting as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. He’s spent the last 21 years in administration, most recently as the principal of Ephrata High School. During his career, Cummings has assisted with numerous district wide projects that made him a stand-out in the hiring process. 

“We received applications from a large group of well qualified applicants,” said Murray. “Our selection committee agreed that Aaron was the clear choice to be our next assistant superintendent. His deep commitment to Ephrata Schools is evident in his years of service to our kids and community. Aaron has the background, dedication and experience in Ephrata to hit the ground running in this important role. I am excited to work with him and make a positive difference together.”

Cummings will assume his new role as assistant superintendent in July 2024. His principal position will be opened to interested candidates on Monday, April 8, following Spring Break. A new principal is expected to be named in the month of April.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue making a positive impact on students’ lives at a district level.”

“Aaron brings a wealth of experience and institutional knowledge into this new role,” said Superintendent, Tim Payne. “He has always been a strong advocate for students and staff. He knows our community and has the trust and relationships needed to be successful. He’s absolutely the right person for the job.”
