Ephrata School District Names New High School Principal

Ashlie Miller

The Ephrata School District is pleased to announce Dr. Ashlie Miller has been named as the next principal of Ephrata High School. Miller will replace current principal, Aaron Cummings, who accepted the position of assistant superintendent of Ephrata Schools. Both Miller and Cummings will transition into their new roles in July.

Miller, who is bilingual in English and Spanish, has broad experience in K-12 and post secondary education. She is currently an assistant principal at Dallas High School in Dallas, Ore. Education is a second career for Miller. She previously served as intelligence officer/captain (O3) in the United States Air Force, 31st Intelligence Squadron out of Fort Gordon, Ga.

The Ephrata School District selected Miller from a pool of well qualified candidates. The interview team included administrators, Ephrata High School staff members and students. Assistant Superintendent Murray and members of the interview team traveled to Dallas High School to speak with administrators, staff and students before offering Miller the position Wednesday night.

“Ashlie is absolutely the right person to lead Ephrata High School,” said Ken Murray, Assistant Superintendent of the Ephrata School District. “Her diverse background and outside perspective will be key to building and growing the strong foundation we have at EHS. Ashlie has a tremendous amount to offer to our high school and our district. I’m excited to work with her.”

Miller has a Doctorate of Education Degree in Educational Leadership (Administration) from Portland State University. Her Masters Degrees are in Spanish Language Teaching and Secondary Education from Southern Oregon University and the University of Phoenix, respectively. Miller’s Bachelors Degrees in Romance Languages and International Studies are both from the University of Oregon.

“I’m looking forward to joining a community that is so well known for its schools,” said Miller. "It’s obvious that excellence is expected in Ephrata and that excites me. I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with students and staff to make connections and build on the strong tradition of EHS.”

Miller will  assume the role of principal July 1, 2024.
