Ephrata School District Names New EHS Volleyball Coach

McKaidan Boyd

The Ephrata School District has named McKaidan Boyd as the new head coach for the EHS volleyball program. Her appointment will become official following school board action on Monday, June 22.

Boyd was selected following a competitive hiring process that included out-of-district applicants. Candidates participated in formal interviews and conducted practice sessions with high school volleyball players as part of the evaluation process.

“McKaidan demonstrated a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills and a clear vision for building a positive and competitive program,” said Bryan Johnson, EHS athletic director and assistant principal. “Throughout the interview process, she stood out for her ability to connect with student-athletes and create an environment focused on growth, teamwork and success.”

Boyd brings extensive volleyball experience to Ephrata. She played at Chiawana High School and went on to compete at the University of West Alabama on a full athletic scholarship. She also played for Columbia Juniors Volleyball, a nationally ranked program that reached the top five in the country.

“My love for volleyball started when I was 10 years old and has taken me across the country, shaping who I am as a competitor and person,” said Boyd. “I already see so much passion and potential in these athletes, and I’m excited to help them grow on and off the court. We’re going to build on the strong foundation of EHS volleyball and work, compete and win. I can’t wait to see our community in the stands supporting these girls.”

“We’re excited to welcome McKaidan to our coaching staff,” said Johnson. “She has deep roots in the region, a passion for volleyball and a genuine commitment to helping students grow. We look forward to seeing the impact she will have on Tiger volleyball.”

Students interested in playing volleyball for EHS next season and their families are invited to attend a parent-player meeting on Thursday, June 4, at 5:15 p.m. in the EHS Commons. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Coach Boyd, learn about the upcoming season and hear more about the program's vision moving forward.
