Ephrata School Board Names Superintendent and New Board Member
Last night, in a special meeting of the school board, directors took action to promote Interim Superintendent Ken Murray to the position of superintendent and select Casey Devine to fill the board’s vacant position.
Ken Murray, Superintendent
In a 3-1 vote, the board agreed to a three-year superintendent contract for Murray, contingent on successful contract negotiations. Murray has been the district’s interim superintendent since July 2024.
“Ken’s performance over the past six months has been exceptional, above and beyond our expectations,” said Ephrata School Board President, Jim Adams. “His dedication to Ephrata and to Ephrata Schools is evident in his actions. Though our vote was not unanimous, it reflects the thoughtful deliberation of the board. All members are united in their support for Ken’s leadership as we move forward together.”
An Ephrata native and Ephrata High School alumnus, Murray brings 17 years of administrative experience to his new leadership role. Prior to his role as interim superintendent, he served as Ephrata Schools’ assistant superintendent for one year and led Ephrata Middle School as principal from 2013-2023.
“I am deeply honored to serve as the next superintendent of Ephrata Schools - a community that has shaped me and means so much to me,” said Murray. “Our schools are built on a foundation of pride and excellence. I am committed to supporting our incredible staff as they continue to provide exceptional opportunities for our kids. Together, we will keep striving to ensure that every student is inspired, challenged and empowered to achieve their full potential.”
Casey Devine, School Board Director
Last night, the Ephrata School Board selected Casey Devine to fill the board’s vacant position in district three. Devine replaces long-time board member Anita Waller, who resigned in November.
"Casey stood out among a highly qualified pool of candidates," said Jim Adams, Ephrata School Board President. "Her experience as an educator fills a vital gap on the board, bringing valuable expertise. Casey’s enthusiasm for advancing Ephrata is evident, and we’re excited to welcome her to the team."
A long-time employee of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, Devine served as the school’s physical education specialist and health and nutrition director for 11 years. She is currently the Ephrata Youth Basketball Director for the Amateur Athletic Union, Local Chapter.
“I am passionate about the potential of our students and the value of a strong educational foundation,” said Devine. “As a director, I’m looking forward to collaborating with the board to ensure that every child in Ephrata has access to the resources, support and opportunities they need to succeed.”
