CANDIDATES SOUGHT FOR OPEN EPHRATA SCHOOL BOARD POSITION

Ephrata School District

The Ephrata School District is seeking individuals interested in filling an open position on the district's school board. The vacancy comes following the resignation of Director Alain Black, who stepped down to accept the varsity girls basketball head coaching position at Ephrata High School.

By rule, the Ephrata School Board will appoint an individual to serve the remainder of Black’s term, which expires in December 2023. Qualified applicants must be United States citizens, be qualified voter residents and must live within the boundaries of Director District #1. Applications are due by Friday, Aug. 19 at 4:00 p.m.

To apply, candidates must provide a biographical sketch or resume and a statement describing why they wish to serve on the board. Neither the sketch/resume nor the statement should exceed one page typed. Additional information, the on-line application and maps of Director District #1 can be found at https://www.ephrataschools.org/district/school-board or are available at the District Office.

The Board will review applications on Monday, Aug. 22 during a work session. Interviews will be held on Monday, Sept. 27, followed by the administration of the successful candidate’s Oath of Office at the beginning of the Monday, Oct. 24 meeting.

“Ephrata Schools have been fortunate in both the quality and the longevity of those that choose to serve on the school board,” said Tim Payne, Superintendent. “Ephrata has a longstanding history of being led by a collaborative and committed school board that works in unison with district staff in fulfilling our commitment to kids and learning.”
