Air Quality and Smoke Plan
Ephrata School District puts student’s safety as a top priority. We are aware of the current challenges with the air quality and how it may affect your student’s health while at school.
We want to share with you our district wide smoke awareness plan and how we will proceed based on current air quality.
- Air Quality will be monitored at regular intervals during the school day using the https://wasmoke.blogspot.com/
- Decisions for outdoor activities (Recess, PE, Sports) during the above time checks will refer to the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) Air Pollution and School Activities Chart
- When the Air Quality Index is 151 or above, (unhealthy), everyone will be kept indoors.
- If you have a student that falls into the sensitive groups category (i.e. health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart or respiratory conditions, etc.) they are allowed to remain indoors without penalty from any outdoor activity, including sports practices and contests. Please communicate with your student’s school or coach on your student’s behalf.
For any additional questions or concerns, please contact your student’s school.
