Levy Update: Two New School Buses Purchased
Thanks in part to a capital levy approved by Ephrata voters in 2022, the district will purchase two new school buses from RWC Group of Spokane at a cost of $387,263. The purchase of these buses will utilize the remaining levy funds allocated for buses. Two additional school buses were purchased in November 2023.
At the time of the 2022 levy, the district anticipated it could purchase four buses at a total cost of nearly $600,000. Since that time, the price of these vehicles increased to nearly $800,000. The district will utilize state funding it receives for school bus depreciation to pay for the difference. Depreciation is the accounting process of spreading the cost of a tangible asset, like a school bus, over its expected useful life.
