Supporting Your Student Through Progress Reports and Report Cards

At Ephrata Schools, we believe families play an important role in every child’s success. When progress reports and report cards come home, it’s more than just grades—it’s an opportunity to check in, celebrate growth and look ahead together.

Here are a few simple things you can do to support your student when these academic updates arrive:

WHAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME

  • Celebrate Wins — Big and Small
Ask your student what accomplishments make them proud. Whether it’s a high grade, consistent effort or improvement in a challenging subject, take a moment to recognize their hard work.

  • Look Beyond the Grades
Encourage your student to reflect on their learning, not just the numbers. Questions like “What was the hardest thing you learned?” or “What do you want to get better at?” can spark meaningful conversations.
  • Set a Short-Term Goal
Turn the report into a tool for growth and progress. Talk about one or two things they’d like to focus on in the next quarter or semester. It could be turning in homework on time, asking more questions in class or improving a specific subject.

  • Partner with Teachers
If you have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your student’s teacher. We’re here to help, and working together makes a big difference.
