Air Quality

When the air quality in our region is affected by wildfire smoke or other factors, we take steps - like reducing or cancelling outdoor activity - to ensure the health of our student

Ephrata Schools looks to the recommendations of the Washington State Department of Health to determine whether to restrict outdoor activity. We will monitor air quality at regular intervals during the school day using this Air Quality Monitoring Tool.

When the Air Quality Index is 151 or above, (unhealthy), everyone will be kept indoors.

If you have a student that falls into the sensitive groups category (i.e. health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart or respiratory conditions, etc.) they are allowed to remain indoors without penalty from any outdoor activity, including sports practices and contests.   Please communicate with your student’s school or coach on your student’s behalf.

For any additional questions or concerns, please contact your student’s school.
