Technology Department Positions for Students


Reports To:
Technology Coordinator
Overall Responsibilities:
The Telecom Apprentice is an entry-level, training position. This person assists the Ephrata School District Tech Department with troubleshooting and repairing computer and networking issues. The successful candidate must have diagnostic and communication skills.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Installation of network cable.
  2. Workstation installation, maintenance and repair. 
  3. Troubleshoot computer and peripheral device problems.
  4. Assist in troubleshooting network system errors.
  5. Troubleshoot and repair audio visual equipment.
  6. Assist in troubleshooting software problems.
  7. Maintain and operate applications (Microsoft Office and Internet Browsers)
  8. Provide staff one-on-one assistance with basic computer troubleshooting, networking and district approved software.
  9. Assist in providing documentation on district network systems.
  10. Perform other duties as requested.
  • Must be a current or recent graduate of the Ephrata School District between the ages of 14 and 18 years old.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and work with a wide variety of people that possess various levels of technical expertise.
  • Must desire to learn and develop technician skills.
  • Most have demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot computer and network system errors.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair audio-visual equipment.
